Deep Sea Diving

Deep Sea Diving
Kit up and launch for your first dive on the Aliwal Shoal. This area has fantastic reef diving, as well as two wrecks and large numbers of Raggedtooth Sharks from June to November. Breakfast in between dives. Transfer back to Pennington after your second dive. Gear, 2 dives included.

Perfect for little kids and big kids. Anthony and Rhys are extremely proficient surfers and know every bit of beach perfect for every weather condition. They will teach all levels of surfers, and take the more experienced to find the most challenging waves!!


Sani Pass

Quad Biking
Enjoy thrills and spills of biking through cane fields, rivers and canyons. If you don’t mind a bit of dirt and lots of excitement this puts a new dimension to quad biking. Fun for all ages. For the real dare devil, take a quad bike up the 10,000ft Sani Pass into Lesotho and enjoy a bit of dutch courage in SA’s highest pub before negotiating you way back down.

Zip Wire Canopy Tour

Zip Wire Canopy Tour
An eco experience that will knock your socks off. 1 kilometre of steel zip wire takes you over and through the forest canopy closer to the canopy wildlife than you have ever been. Glide between 8 platforms viewing the birds, monkeys, trees and plants. A guide will explain everything to you as you go along. Anyone between the ages of 7 and 70 can be thrilled by this spectacular experience.

Tala Game Lodge

Perfect for those who have little time available but want a taste of the South African bush. Only 45 minutes from Pennington where you can spot giraffe, rhino, hippo, most game but not elephant or lion. An early morning start and game drive, followed by lunch, and sunset game drive and then home.

Springbok Game Lodge

The only game lodge that mixes rugby and wildlife, perfectly. Between your game drives you can enjoy the passion for rugby in the lodge where priceless memorabilia abounds and momentous games can be viewed on the big screen. The Oribi Gorge

About an hours drive from Pennington this wonderfully unspoilt gorge and nature reserve with lovely views, hiking trails and wildlife. For the adventurous there is white water rafting, abseiling on the worlds highest site, or throw yourself off the Lehrs Falls, the worlds highest swing at 100m high. There are mountain biking trails, and a 120ft zip wire. Great for big kids and little kids!

Depending on your choice of activity and time available, this can be a 1or 2 day trip.

Bird Watching

KZN has abundant bird life wherever you are, however specialist day trips can be arranged to Vernon Crooks, Drakensberg or St Lucia.

The Drakensberg

Now a world heritage site the Royal Drakensberg Park offers majestic craggy mountains, the worlds second largest waterfall and quite special surroundings. Wonderful hiking trails, birdwathcing, fishing and even golf. 35,000 San rock paintings. Stay overnight and enjoy the spectacular sunrise, or pack it all into a day.

Valley of 1000 hills

Or the valley of Peace and Pleasure with gentle views of the seemingly endless rolling hills. An opportunity to experience authentic Zulu villages and witness Zulu dancers against the backdrop of 1000 hills. A delightful day out. The 1000 hills Choo Choo steam train runs through the valley, the first and last Sunday of each month.

An easy one day outing or can be combined with a visit to Tala Game Reserve.

Sharks Rugby Stadium

Enjoy a Saturday afternoon match and enjoy the rioutous braai afterwards when 10,000 fans braai together! Fun. The Sharks are the KZN rugby team, and were in the final of the Super 14 last season. They currently have 10 players in the winning Rugby World Cup squad.

The Sardine Run

Whale watching and Sardine Run.
The thrill of these majestic giants of the sea beats it all. Whales can frequently be seen off the KZN coast from July to November - mainly Humpbacked Whales, and occasionally Southern Right Whales. All whale watching trips and encounters with marine mammals are conducted strictly according to current regulations & conservation guidelines. Whilst experiencing this off-shore whale watching adventure your safety is never forgotten
During the annual winter (May/June) migration of huge shoals of sardines come in close to our shore, a phenomenon not seen elsewhere in the world, creating a fever of excitement that cannot be equaled. Thousands of Cape Gannet 'bomb' the ocean and this is the first sign that the sardine run is on. Approximately 3000 bottlenose dolphins follow the migration of the sardines.
You just have to be lucky enough to be there at the right time!

Stop off for some delicious macadamia nuts or fresh bananas at one of the roadside farm stalls, or browse for collectibles in some of the fascinating little shops between Margate and Ramsgate. In Durban there are heaving street markets, where you can buy anything from exotic foods and spices to antiques. The Southern Hemisphere’s largest shopping mall is only an hours drive away in Umhlanga.

Paton Express Steam Train

Let off some steam and take this grand old train through the foothills of the Drakensberg and experience the romance of steam. This narrow gauge line runs through the countryside that Alan Paton made famous in his book ‘Cry the beloved country’. It runs every Sunday from Ixopa to Carrisbrooke and back, a three hour round trip. Picnic lunches provided to enjoy at Carrisbrooke before your return. If there are 6 or more people in your group who want to have the whole train to themselves any day of the week, this can be arranged, with a special picnic lunch and guide included.
